Besides regular activities such as water heater replacements and unclogging drains, other large projects are always keeping us busy. At Approved Plumbing Co. technicians are trained to diagnose and repair problems; whatever they may be. No Job is too big or too small as you can see we offer a large variety of services, both residential and commercial.
This past week, Approved Plumbing Co. installed a new meter vault for a local commercial building in Independence, Ohio. The owners of the property were expanding, which meant the plumbing system needed to be upgraded to handle the increase in water usage.
First, 165 feet of ductile iron piping was installed from the water line at the street to the building using lateral connections. This was necessary because the existing main water line was simply too small.
After upgrading the piping for more water flow, a crane was used to lower in the new water meter vault. The new meter vault consists of 13000 pounds of pre-cast concrete including all main valves, meters and backflow devices. This large device connects the main water line to the building, not only regulating the water usage, but also offering safety and cut-off features. The water meter vault is the main hub between the city supplied water and this building.
Once completed, the property can move forward with adding further modifications and upgrades to the buildings plumbing system.
Other Recent Sewer Work
Approved Plumbing Co. has the ability to identify problems by using a sewer camera. Recently, a homeowner had ground water coming in through the duct-work in their home. Carl, one of our experienced plumbing technicians’, performed a camera test in underground duct-work for a residential heating system. Carl was able to see the exact problem that was causing the backup, inform the homeowner of the issue at hand, and move forward correcting the issue.
